UP to run extra buses from August 26 for Raksha Bandhan travel rush

All corporation buses have been asked to remain on the road during the six-day period, with services to be increased on routes where demand rises, especially towards eastern Uttar Pradesh. Officials said extra buses will be deployed on major routes, including those linking Lucknow.

Singh said providing safe and convenient transport to women travelling to meet their brothers during Raksha Bandhan is a priority of the Yogi Adityanath government. Officials said existing restrictions on services from Delhi towards eastern UP through Moradabad-Bareilly and Aligarh-Kanpur will be relaxed wherever needed. The government has also asked authorities to ensure cleanliness, drinking water, adequate lighting and fans at bus stations and inside buses.

• Eligible drivers and conductors who complete 1,800 km of bus operations during the six days will get an incentive of ₹1,200, subject to prescribed conditions.

• Contractual drivers and conductors will receive an additional 55 paise per km for operations beyond 1,800 km.

• Eligible technical staff attending depots and regional workshops on all six days will get a one-time incentive of ₹500.

Eligibility for drivers and conductors will also depend on a load factor of more than 64 per cent.

• An amount of ₹90,000 has been sanctioned to incentivise employees and supervisors responsible for maintaining arrangements at designated bus stations.

• Depot and regional-level officials will also oversee the arrangements.
