India Expands E-Visa Entry Points To 88 Ports, Including Attari Border

The move is aimed at easing the entry of international travellers into India. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has added 11 new international ports, including the India-Pakistan border at Attari, Punjab, from which travellers with an electronic visa can enter the country.

This brings the total of such entry points in India to 88, including 37 airports, 38 seaports and 13 land ports. Although the Attari border now has the e-visa facility, it is still not available to international travellers holding Pakistani passports or.

• India has expanded the number of entry points accessible to e-visa holders from August 10, 2026.

• Having introduced the facility in 2014 to 43 countries, India currently offers e-visas to nationals of 172 countries, across 17 sub-categories of travellers, including medical, student, mountaineering, cruise, tourist, transit, group travel, and business.

• A report in The New Indian Express states that the move is aimed at bringing airports, seaports, land borders and rail posts under a common framework established by India’s Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
