Dress properly: Rekha Gupta slams AAP MLA Anil Jha over viral vest-and-shorts video

The Kirari MLA is seen seated cross-legged as people, including several women, queue up with documents related to the Delhi government's Lakshmi Yojana. Referring to the viral clip, Gupta said that if women were coming to submit forms, Jha should at least be properly.

Gupta also used the episode to target the AAP over the Lakshmi Yojana, accusing the Opposition party of politicising the scheme. Gupta had said the government aimed to release the first instalment by Raksha Bandhan on August 28 after completing verification of applications.

Meanwhile, eight AAP MLAs were marshalled out of the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday after they raised slogans and disrupted proceedings while demanding the resignation of Food Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. AAP has been protesting against Sirsa since the start of the Monsoon.

• The Delhi Cabinet had approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on July 26, under which eligible women will receive ₹2,500 per month through direct benefit transfer.

• The scheme, earlier announced as the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, was later renamed the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana while retaining the promised monthly assistance of ₹2,500.

• This is very irresponsible behaviour of the Opposition.

Soon after the House resumed following the lunch break, AAP members raised slogans and displayed placards demanding Sirsa’s resignation.

• The MLAs marshalled out were Sanjeev Jha, Jarnail Singh, Kuldeep Kumar, Som Dutt, Ajay Dutt, Virendra Kadyan, Surinder Kumar and Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed.
