Dashcam video shows moment of Atiq Ahmed's son's fatal crash, SUV flung into air

Abaan and his friend Sonu, 25, died in the accident on August 6, while three other occupants of the SUV were injured and are undergoing treatment. The dashcam video, recorded from a vehicle travelling behind the SUV, shows the white Hyundai Creta moving at.

The vehicle then appears to slowly veer towards the left, briefly moves partially off the road and crashes into a concrete divider. Due to the impact, the SUV is seen being thrown into the air, rotating and landing back on the road.

What Happened

Police said they are verifying the authenticity of the video, which has gone viral on social media. Abaan was travelling with associates to visit his brother in Jhansi Jail when the speeding SUV went out of control, hit the divider and overturned.

• The Allahabad High Court had granted conditional parole to Ali, who is lodged in Jhansi Jail, and Umar, who is imprisoned in Lucknow Jail, to allow them to attend Abaan’s funeral.

• His elder brothers, Umar and Ali, who were lodged in jail, were brought to the burial site in police custody at around 6 pm, police said.

• His body was buried two days after the accident under heavy police presence.
